NAWA
Studio NAWA is a new creative partnership between Alina Nazmeeva and John Wagner, based in Chicago, Illinois. This collaboration fuses Alina's insight as a media artist with John's expertise as an architect, merging their passions for digital simulation and material assembly.
Their creative process is non-linear, oscillating between material and digital experimentation. Intuitive and visceral, yet deeply research-based, their work combines a range of techniques and materials, from analog and digital fabrication experiments with stainless steel and textiles, to working with gaming engines, and augmented and virtual reality.
Studio NAWA delves into themes of visibility, memory, simulation, and entanglement. In our increasingly digitized world, physical objects become reflections of digital realities. NAWA creates objects, installations, and environments that explore and reimagine the tensions between the digital and physical realms, expanding the conceptual and aesthetic vocabulary that links them.
