Samuel Latour
Artist, sculptor, and teacher, Samuel LATOUR lives and works in Toulouse (Southwest of France). He graduated from the Boulle school where he specialized in art turning mostly with wood and bronze. After his diploma, he hones his skills through collaboration with designers and artists in workshops and art foundries.
Today, his practice mixes different mediums such as wood, bronze, steel, plaster and also several different techniques such as molding, woodturning, or chasing on bronze. In this strong relation with materials and craftsmanship, Samuel LATOUR explores an abstract language in sculpture. He articulates his research around the idea of «Caligraphy the volume» playing with gestures, lines and geometric shapes, contrasts of textures or even traces left by the tool on the material.
His works are exhibited regularly by the Anne Jacquemin-Sablon Gallery and the Saint-Jacques Gallery.
